Nortel phone locked up or won’t dial
It was a common issue on the Norstar Phones to lock just like it is today for the Nortel Phones to lock or to appear to lock. You can pickup the handset and hear the dial tone but when you begin to dial nothing appears or a series of numbers appears that is not exactly what you typed.
Nortel Phone Locked
This issue is the Nortel Phone has degraded itself and one of the number keys, line keys or feature keys has jammed. Or, the key contact has failed.
HOW TO CHECK NORTEL PHONE
First, check to see if this problem is on all phones or just yours.
If the problem is just on your phone, then run your fingers vicariously over all the keys on the pad from right to left and up and down. Work to dislog any keys that may be depressed and forcing the Nortel Phone to be Locked.
Nortel Phone Locked – All Phones
If all the phones are Locked and can not dial? Is there is a display screen? One by one unplug just a single phone and re-attempt. Then reconnect that phone and try another. It may be that a phone has an open circuit to the phone carrier due to its malfunction affecting all phones.
Nortel Phone Locked – No matter what I try
If you find that your Nortel Phones are Locked and Nortel Phones are not working then you will need to contact Nortel Works for Support and have a technician check the Nortel Phone System for faults and failures.
